Plan Your Road Trip To Montagu – 5 Stops You Can’t Miss
2 min read

Paarl
Paarl is a quaint town 10 minutes from the N1 and is the perfect place to grab a bottle of wine you can enjoy with your evening braai in Montagu. There are numerous wine farms and vineyards in the area. While there, why not stop at the Afrikaans Language Monument – not only is this an important cultural location, but there are also good picnic spots and stunning views of the mountains. For those looking for an animal encounter, head to The Alpaca Loom to meet some cute alpacas and llamas, with guided tours taking place every hour.

Pampoen Padstal
There are many fantastic farm stalls on the drive to Montagu Springs, but one of the most unique ones is the Pampoen Padstal. The stall is situated 10 kilometres outside of Worcester, although missing this little building decorated with pumpkins from top to bottom will be difficult! The stall sells local fresh produce, along with homemade products. The many pumpkins in and around the stall are also for sale.

Robertson for wine
Robertson is another fantastic small town on the way to Montagu. It offers another opportunity to buy some wine from the many surrounding wine farms. We recommend visiting one of the olive farms in the area, like Marbrin Olive Farm or Owl’s Rest Olive and Lavender Farm, which is perfect for lunch or to obtain any of your favourite olive-related products. Lastly, why not pop into Robertson Art Gallery to view original South African art.

Platform 62, Ashton
Ashton is the last town before Montagu and is home to Platform 62 on Route 62! Route 62 serves as a tourist route which starts in Cape Town and ends in Port Elizabeth. Platform 62 brings together some of the best local wineries, food, and décor. Have a stroll through the wine boutique and store or grab a bite to eat at their restaurant.

Local Produce In Montagu
Montagu is famous for its nuts and dried fruit snacks. We highly recommend stopping at the Montagu Snacks Farm Stall or the Capedry factory store, to get yourself some snacks before heading to Montagu Springs Resort.
